Louis Hotels in Vassilikos

Whatever happened to these hotels?  Not been to Zante for a couple of years now, moved on to Skiathos for a while.  Last time we stayed in Kalamaki and spent the day on Mavratzi  beach and the hotels on top of the cliff were empty...as were the facilities at the back of the beach..In fact, if I remember, we didn't stay there we moved on to Plaka Beach..

The hotels are still closed (they closed in 2008).  A friend of mine has the bar at the top of the hill but he had to close last year and find work elsewhere.  He told me that somebody from the mainland tried to open a few rooms in one of them last July and August and there were lots of rumours that the site was going to be re-developed but nothing has happen yet.  I know they were a bit of an eyesore but they brought a lot of work and money to the area.  We still go every year but like you we tend to go to Plaka if we want a local beach.

Hi Dave the Louis Zante Beach Hotel is the one just as you enter Laganas from Kalamaki.  These 3 hotels were part of the Louis group located in Vasilikos but closed in 2007.  One of them (Zante Royal Palace) has re-opened on a limited scales last and this year.  (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g776001-i14548-k3615874-l26093611-Zante_royal_palace-Vasilikos_Zakynthos_Ionian_Islands.html#26093611)
