Papillon Hotel

Anyone heard anything about whether the Papillon Hotel is any good? Can only find one review from one person this year and that's bad. Reviews from previous years are glowing... Has something changed?

Not many Brits go there really. Used mostly by Scandanavians in the past.

 Ha ha just had the laugh of my life reading the comments about the Papillon Hotel and looking at the photos on their web site. Just come home today from Argassi - we were booked into the apartments - took one look and walked out. We got no help from the rep from Co-operative Travel so we booked into other accomodation at a cost of 520 euros. We knew it was basic 2/3 star but didn't expect 10 star filth - the whole place is totally run down. Take a look at my photos and compare with the web site.

I have just booked a week in Argassi in 6 weeks time. We are staying at the Papillon Apartments and like Brett, I can only find the one seriously bad review, (Liz Stevens June 2010)

Can someone give me an honest opinion as I am now a little worried.  

No answers as yet other than the above.



To be honest, I think they only became available for booking again this year, so there won't be any more recent than the one's you've seen.
I've had a search and haven't found any..........Yet.

When we arrived at the Papillon Apartments we were greeted with an awful smell of cat urine in the reception area. The accomodation was apalling theres basic and theres basic - this was more like a prison cell. The whole place is totally run down and dirty and dingy. We refused to stay there so had to pay 520 euros extra to move to another apartment - beautiful sea view at the Porto Illesa the staff there were very helpful and sympathetic because we got no help whatsoever from our Rep from the Co-operative Travel.

My advice DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER STAYING HERE the photographs on the web are nothing like what greets you when you get there.

Yeah this is from the same person..........she really didn't like it.

I am that worried now that I am considering seeing if I can change hotels.

I am more interested to hear from someone local rather than looking for reviews.

Staying somewhere that is basic is not the issue, but I would like it to be clean.

If we can change hotels, has anyone any recommendations that won't cost too much. Self-catering is fine as we plan to eat out everyday.

Meridien beach hotel is a great location and very cheap if you book with companies like alpha rooms,travel republic.We have stayed there about 5 times now.We paid less than £200 for a week and you get a discount if you book for 2 weeks too.Hope this helps.The full seaview rooms on the second floor are beautiful.
