Perkes Hotel. Bad reviews
« on: August 08, 2012, 05:10:19 pm »
On Tripadvisor.co.uk. The Perkes Hotel, Laganas has had 70 reviews (up to this moment in time). I'd say 90% of this years reviews so far have all been bad.

I'm booked to go there this September. Please, someone tell me I haven't made a bad choice in hotel, lol. I'm bricking it now, I've told the Father In-Law that it's a good place. Haven't told him about these reviews.

Does anyone know the owner? Has anyone on here stayed there this year? Are these reviews unfounded?

I appreciate of course that unsatisfied or disgruntled customers may say the occasional untrue bad thing (especially if they didn't get things their own way) but come on, 90% seems a bit more than disgruntled to me, lol.

Any help or information appreciated.

When we were at the Roseland last year, a couple arrived from Laganas who were moved from this hotel by TC.

This couple were in their mid twenties who had booked a last minute cheapie holiday and it was allocated on arrival. They stayed at the said hotel for just 1 night and asked to be moved because it was as they described " a absolute dive & a sxxt hole.

They said if they werent moved they were going to camp out at the airport till they could get a flight home. Also remember them saying they asked to be moved to Kalamaki as they didnt like Laganas.

Strange as they bought a last minute holiday and you get what you pay for. Almost certain it was this hotel Soz

Could you not call TC and see if you can change hotels if your not happy with it ????

To be very honest a holiday is what you make of it but I'd like to be able to spend some time there socialising with people at the pool and bar, especially late evening. If the place is as reviewed I'm gonna make my peace with it and just use the place to sleep in and spend the whole of my days out.

As I'm going in September, high season will be finished/finishing so I'm hopeful there won't be so many of the younger generation (or trouble makers) at the hotel, lol.

Also, I'm 37 and I'm travelling with my 50+ year old father in law, so I doubt they'll see us as any bother tbh, and unlikely to cause damage and stuff like that (as was posted in a couple of the reviews I read).

Its always a good idea to look at the reviewer's history on TA. Many people only post 1 or 2 reviews & if most of their reviews of other places are pretty negative its possible that they're just moaners. Whenever I look at reviews I always ignore the very best & the very worst & make an opinion based on the majority ( a bit awkward if they're nearly all bad though)
As said above, if its really bad when you get there just complain to the reps & get them to change you to somewhere more suitable ( shouldn't be too difficult a bit later in the season). After all no-one should have to stay in sub-standard accomodation when they've paid good money for something better than they end up with

I'm being very optimistic about it Alfa.

I'm averaging it out between the review/reviewers.

I'm factoring in my age as well as it being low season too.

You can bet your bottom dollar that I will be reviewing everything from the hotel to all the restaurants and stuff we do, when I get back, lol.
