Trying to remain positive for late July.
« on: May 20, 2020, 01:42:27 pm »
I don't know if anyone else is trying to remain positive, but I am due to start my holiday in Alykes on 25th July. Just hoping that it goes ahead but if it doesn't then so be it. This was going to be a 3 week holiday for myself as a little treat and possibly this year would be the last time I would visit Alykes and Zakynthos. Love Alykes and the Island but next year pastures new are calling, but maybe next year If this holiday doesn't happen Alykes will be on the menu.
I am really a nice person, eccentric bordering on the mad.

Think you are right to remain positive about the end of July. Greece needs to get their economy moving again. We have our next pre planned holiday booked for October going to Maleme, Crete but would definitely consider a trip to Alykanas/Alykes if we are able to travel in the summer. :)

Ah fingers crossed for you we are due to go early July but doubtful it will happen. Where are you looking to go next year still Greece or somewhere further afield?  :)

Will be hard not to go to Zakynthos and Alykes but maybe a change is as good as a rest. If this year doesn't happen I am looking at 4 weeks at home ..... not good.

UPDATE ON MY HOLIDAYS - Well I was due to stay at The Panos this year but the Panos is closed for summer 2020. I am now booked to stay at The Maria in Alykes, I have heard various reports good and bad but as everyone knows its make your own mind up. I will not take any notice of negative posts because that can sometime dampen the excitement nor will I get over excited about the positive ones, I will make my own mind up. Arriving on the 25th July, so lets see what the Maria and holiday brings.

I’m a bit like you Tony as regard’s to others comments and reports on acommodations. Sure it’s always fine to read through them but rather than judge a place in advance based on other reports I prefer to form my own opinion once there. As you know the Maria complex is a stone’s throw away from the Panos so you’re well familiar with the area and walk down to the beach and village. Have a great time and keep your reports coming as your holiday progresses !!

Have a good one Tony, sure it will be great, the vast majority of the reviews are positive for the usual basic s/c accommodation like we all know. Have been past the Maria so many times, stopping for the occasional drink and have looked at staying there if I was doing a package quite a few times, but always end up in my usual apartments in the end. Please keep reporting whilst you are there if you can and let us know what the flight experience is like and whats open etc. Really quite envious, as it is looking very quiet for this part of the season so should be quite relaxing and fairly laid back compared to normal.

Enjoy ;)
